Kent Adult Education is the heart of adult learning in Kent. As the largest provider we have had almost 20,000 people enjoy a course with us over the last academic year.

With over 4,000 courses for you to enrol upon now we really do have a course that’s perfect for you. Our courses run from Monday to Saturday at various times of day from morning to as late as 9.30pm in the evening. We want everyone to find a new hobby, learn a new skill, get fit, get creative and to have fun on our courses.

With 15 dedicated adult education centres across the county from Tunbridge Wells to Dover and Folkestone to Dartford, we have courses that are local to you and convenient for you to get to with many of our centres in the middle of the town. Plus we work with around 100 other locations such as village halls, libraries and schools to make sure we have the perfect environment and location for everyone in Kent.

Courses are available in a range of subjects: arts, craft, business, general studies, GCSEs, health & fitness, language, personal development and photography & computing. Ranging from free tasters to accredited courses, we’re sure that whether you are a beginner or someone who wants to excel with an advanced course we can find a course that’s at the right level for you to flourish.

“The course is bringing me more and more out of myself, building my confidence” – Learner Satisfaction Survey 2015

One of the biggest misconceptions we come across is that potential learners think that courses will be too expensive to join. We offer a range of ‘pay as you go’ fitness courses that start from £5 per session and there is no obligation to turn up every week. Our half day courses can be as little as £25 and full day Saturday courses are £50, these even usually include materials too! Plus if your course is £70 or more we offer the ability for you to pay a 25% deposit and pay the rest in instalments so it really is easier than you think to enrol and enjoy adult learning.

“Good teaching and learning inspires learners to achieve and progress” – Learner Satisfaction Survey 2015

We’re also really proud that for the past two years we have scored 9/10 for customer satisfaction. Not only do we think our courses and teaching are fantastic but our students do too! Here’s what one of our students said about their experience, “every aspect of the course has been excellent, enjoyable, informative, well presented and beneficial”.

One group of people that understand the benefits of adult education better than anyone is our tutors! Some of our tutors have spent many years teaching and it means a lot to all of them to see the progress a student makes as their skills and confidence develop over time. Pottery Tutor Viv has been teaching for us for three and a half years and said “Being a tutor has really brought home the value of adult education. It allows people to escape everyday problems in their life and be creative and meet new people”.

Sugarcraft Tutor Lyn also feels that adult education does so much to improve people’s well-being and said “It allows people to get out and meet like-minded people and it spurs everyone on”. Tutor Candice who teaches a broad range of subjects, said “It’s all about opportunities, sometimes people can be wonderful at things they didn’t even know they could achieve”.

If there’s always been that course you think about doing or you really want to do more with your spare time now is the perfect time to take a look and enrol. Our brand new courses are now live and our new course directory is available in your local KAE centre. There has never been a better time to start your Kent Adult Education experience.
